Chip Seal Projects for 2011

Pickaway County Engineer will begin Chip Seal maintenance operations in July/August weather depending.  This is part of our annual road maintenance program, focusing on extending the life of our asphalt pavements.  This process seals the road surface, filling all cracks with the emulsion and bridging smaller cracks with the stone.  This prevents moisture from entering the pavement surface and damaging the pavement and subgrade under the roads.  We are expecting this construction project to last approximately two-three weeks.  Signs will be posted at the beginning of each road segment as well as each intersection warning motorists of the application of the emulsion and loose stone.  The signs will also include advisory speed placards warning of a maximum speed of 35 mph with 15 mph, 20 mph, and 25 mph advisory speeds at intersections and curves.
