History & Structure

  • Mission: “The CPCIC shall serve as the catalyst to create a positive business environment that promotes new investment, job growth and job retention.”
  • The overall goal of the CIC is to retain existing jobs in the county and look for opportunities to bring new jobs into the county.
  • Founded in 1967 to promote, advance and encourage the industrial, economic, commercial and research development of Circleville and Pickaway County.  The CIC was a committee within the Pickaway Chamber until 2001.  The CIC’s primary function was to issue Industrial Revenue Bonds.
  • CIC is a not-for profit corporation founded under section 1724 of the Ohio Revised Code.
  • The CIC is funded by public and private funds.
  • The CIC serves as the economic development agent for Circleville and Pickaway County.
  • CIC Board: 25 members; 15 voting, 10 ex-officio.  The board membership is comprised of business and government leaders from the community.
  • Standing Committees: Executive, Business & Government Outreach, Sales & Marketing, Fundraising, and Building.
  • Nate Green, Economic Development Director of the CIC was hired in July, 2005 and is the first and only employee of the CIC.

 

Economic Development Functions

  • Act as a liaison between business and federal, state and local governments.
  • Assist business in obtaining incentives and regulatory approval from federal, state and local governments for facility expansion and ongoing operating issues.
  • Provide business with information and conduct forums on pertinent topics such as taxes, incentives, workforce, and environmental regulations.
  • Example: Peak Performance, a company currently headquartered in New Jersey was looking to locate, and create 104 new jobs in Scioto Township.  The CIC worked with them to procure incentives from the Ohio Department of Development, assist in changing zoning for their property in Scioto Township, and facilitate discussions with the Pickaway Jobs-One-Stop to provide pre-screening, recruitment and testing of employees.
  • Work with developers to get them to invest in Pickaway County and help them through regulatory approvals to purchase property.
  • Work with local government on development & infrastructure planning and incentives to retain and attract business.
  • Attract new business to the area through contacts with realtors, site selection consultants and developers.
